David Price
Vice President and Site Head, Oxford Research
David has decades of experience in drug discovery within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. He joined Vertex in 2020 and is the Site Head for Oxford Research, overseeing the site’s scientific strategy and driving the discovery of new medicines.
He started his research career at the University of Nottingham studying synthetic organic chemistry. Following his doctoral studies, David was awarded a research fellowship from the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851, where he had the opportunity to work with Professor A.I. Meyers at Colorado State University. Before joining Vertex, he spent more than 20 years at Pfizer in a variety of roles of increasing responsibility in medicinal chemistry. David is an author of over 80 publications covering multiple areas, including macrocycle design and the application of design principles to mitigate toxicology risk.
