Baker-Polito Administration Appoints STEM Advisory Council for 2017-2018 with Jeff Leiden as Co-Chair

Expanding Access to Quality Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Education

Governor Charlie Baker and Lt. Governor Karyn Polito announced the appointment of 29 members to the Massachusetts STEM Advisory Council for 2017-2018. Dr. Jeffrey Leiden, Chairman, President and CEO of Vertex will continue to serve as an Executive Committee member and Co-Chair, along with U.S. Rep. Joseph Kennedy III.

The STEM Advisory Council began its work under the leadership of the Baker-Polito Administration and strives to expand access to quality STEM education for students across the Commonwealth.

As part of Jeff’s commitment to STEM, he established a comprehensive STEM program at Vertex to engage and inspire the next generation of scientific leaders. Through this program, thousands of Boston Public Schools students have participated in hands-on learning opportunities in our Learning Lab, mentorship experiences, internships and scholarship programs.
