Community Support Programs
Every day, people living with cystic fibrosis (CF) strive to live their best life. From exercise, to education, to the management of their day-to-day care, people with CF and their loved ones embrace the adversity they face and meet challenges head-on. Vertex has established programs to foster the pursuit of higher education, help people with CF live active lives, and provide sponsorships to support the development of innovative patient-centric programs.
Team Impact CF Project, Sponsored By Vertex Pharmaceuticals
The Team IMPACT CF Project, sponsored by Vertex Pharmaceuticals, matches courageous kids living with life-threatening, life-shortening, and chronic illnesses, such as CF, as honorary, active members of college athletic teams local to where they live. Each child is "signed" onto a team and becomes an official member of the team from their Draft Day through to Graduation.
Just as the child joins the athletic team, the student-athletes join the child's support team. The highest level of involvement occurs during the regular season for each sport, but members of the team remain involved with the child throughout the year. While every match is different, activities range from the child attending practices and games and participating in exclusive team events, to the team participating in outings and celebrations important to the child like ice cream and pizza parties, school events, and other activities. Each match lasts approximately two to three years, though the friendships formed often last long after the official match.

All In For CF Scholarship Program
Vertex's All in for CF Scholarship Program helps people with CF, and their families (siblings, caregivers, and children) in pursuing two-year, four-year or graduate degrees to offset the costs of attending college or graduate school.
Following last year’s successful launch, Vertex doubled the size of the program providing 80 scholarships of $5,000 for the 2018-2019 academic year. Scholarship recipients are chosen by an independent committee of CF community members based on a submitted essay and an applicant’s demonstrated level of community involvement, financial need, and academic achievement. Applications will be accepted until January 3, 2018. Recipients will be announced in May 2018.
All In For CF Community Fund
Vertex is committed to supporting nonprofit organizations that help people living with CF and raise awareness about the disease. Types of programming we support include patient education and advocacy initiatives, or an organization's specific event, particularly those intended to support a healthy, active lifestyle.
In the past year, we have sponsored events to unite the community to raise cystic fibrosis awareness across the country.
