Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are a critical part of the development and approval process for new medicines.  People who take part in clinical trials play an important role in helping to create a better understanding of how a potential new medicine may be able to treat a disease or condition.

People often have many questions about enrolling in a clinical trial, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has created a frequently asked question website that addresses many of the most common questions about clinical trials.

The NIH also maintains a database of ongoing clinical trials where people can find information about specific clinical trials in their area. People who are interested should talk with their doctor and visit www.clinicaltrials.gov to learn more about clinical trials that may be appropriate.
